Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday is my way of reminding myself that I have so much to be thankful for, even when I think I am wrong.  These posts re meant to encourage and empower their readers and help make your day special.  They can be silly of serious and comments are always welcome, let me know what you are Thankful for and make my day too!

Today I am thankful for anyone who has ever bought anything from me on criagslist, because not only did you help me clear out my house but you also helped me bring in some sort of income since I currently do not have a job.  It my seem silly but I am really grateful for these simple transactions.

Home Away From Home

My office/craft room used to be upstairs in the office.  But after a few weeks we realized that we were not talking as much and the main culprit was me being upstairs.  So I came up with a scathingly brilliant idea.  Why not move my office downstairs into the coat closet?  It was big enough for my desk, had shelves and plenty of space to store all of my scrapbooking needs.  Verdict?  Perfect!  It is the quaintest spot in the house with room to hold all of our office supplies and all the crafty goodness I could ask for.  It is full of color and style.  The walls are covered in pin boards and dry erase boards to hold all my inspiration.  Simply Stunning wouldn't you say?

Budget Friendly Entry Way

I have always been an interior design nut, and now that I have my own house it is needless to say getting worse.  Slowly but surly the house has been transforming into our home and I could not be happier.  Last week I decided to design and create our perfect entry way.  I have been decorating for Christmas and it just seemed like a good time.  I had no idea what I wanted to do.  So I started with the table.  Of course, no surprise here, I am on  constant budget for home decorating supplies so I knew that this task was going to be challenging.  I started scouting out tables on my favorite website: craigslist; and surprisingly found a great table for $25 bucks.  It was a little ugly, green and marbled but I saw some great potential.  A quick coating of black spray paint and we were in business.

The table done I turned to the accessories.  I already had the pig lamp, vintage bingo card and the mirror so naturally they were added.  I picked up a Norfolk pine tree at Home Depot for $10 and added blue vintage ornaments.  A seven dollar frame and three dollar grass dish from Ross finished the top of the table.  I must admit I was not crazy about the removable rack on the bottom of the table but I painted it anyway and put it on to see what I could do with it and I am so glad I did!  I placed three vintage locker baskets on the rack and then added four dollars worth of fire wood to make it look rustic.  So all together I spent $45 dollars and got just the look I was searching for.  It looks amazing and I could not beat the price.

It's Been A While

It has been so busy around here lately! New kitten, crazy schedules, decorating and dreaming.  I have so much to share!  I was not sure where to start, but I decided on my December daily.  So here goes:
Day 5: Today we took Riley to the dog park to meet up with some friends.  Riley always has an amazing time at the Fort Worth City Dog Park.  Our Friends Luke and Liz brought their two Black Mouth Kerr/Mountain Ridgeback puppies, Ty and Eddie, and they just ran and rolled for an hour.  He slept the whole way home.  His happiest place on Earth.

Day 4: Today was Jordan's Birthday.  We started it with an episode of the X Files, our recent fave.  We went out to breakfast at Sonic, his pick, and then I gave him his presents.  The complete Michael Jackson and beer printed pjs.  I got a great reaction out of that.  We ended up at our friend Luke and Liz's house where Jordan and Luke started to brew their own beer and Liz and I made felted ornaments.  Derrik and Claire joined us for a spaghetti and meatball dinner and some much needed fun.  Good conversation all around.
Day 3: After work we went to Fuzzy's, a local taco shop, with some work friends.  Jordan ended up with two free tacos, one from a co-worker and one for blowing out candles stuck in a taco while getting his picture taken by the store manger.  We ended the evening at Texas de Brazil, Jordan's hands down favorite restaurant.  A day full of food and stomach aches but totally worth it.
Day 2:  I have been decorating for a couple days now but still have some finishing touches I want to do.  I have been buying up vintage ornaments everywhere to use this year in my new house.  This is one of my favorite items from this year, I got these empty glass trees from pier one last year on clearance for a dollar each.  I then added three dollars worth of vintage shiny bright mini ornaments and voila!  instant prettiness.
Day 1:  Started like any other, feed the kitties, feed the dog, start cleaning the house.  I did not even realize it was December first till midday.  Then I get very excited because I remembered my December Daily album that needed filling.  Simple first picture.  Our living room end table with its picture frame and mini snowman.  Simple dy full of simple pleasures, X Files, dinner and kitty cuddling.

Craziness

Sorry for the craziness lately.  I am studying for my teacher test and getting ready for my darling little girl, who will be here tomorrow!  So excited.  Since I have been dedicating so much time to studying (I really want to pass this test!) I am going to take  hiatus from blogging and focus on passing the test.  See you real soon!

Riley

I introduced you to my cat moose and now I want you to meet Riley, my Great Dane.  He is our Gentle Giant.  He loves to ply with his toys, ll of which have to be stuffing free or he will rip them to shreds.  He also likes plying with Moose.  He weighs in at 90 pounds and is still going.  He is 11 months old, just a puppy.  He is such a good dog.  He loves everyone and everything.  Love him.

Rain

It has been rainy for the past two days here in North Texas.  I am loving it.  Rainy days have always been my favorites.  Good book, hot chocolate, movie.  Best Day Ever!  I of course have been studying for my exam but they are still wonderful.  Trying to keep the house clean and the animals happy.  Not easy since I do not want to clean and the animals want to go outside and I won't let them.  So today I am going to make some more coco, chill on my couch with the cat and study.  Perfect Day.
